JABONG.COM- shopping experience , site review, haul and GOSF details.

hiya all,
November is the season of birthdays around my house. and birthdays mean one thing- GIFTS. unfortunately , this is the season of my semesters as well. ya know, those big bad things that roll around once in six months and sweep the ground right underneath you feet by the end of which you get transformed into a blubbering, messed up pile of brain frozen confusion. yes, those things.
this makes shopping for gifts or anything else a far fetched thought. unless, i m ready to risk failing in a paper ( which i never am ), i resist going out. and at this time, comes to my rescue like a knight in shining armour ,ONLINE SHOPPING.
its like a messiah sent by god. i remember the days when online shopping got launched in India by a few select sites. the faces people made, the reservations they had. but now, people shop from top to toe anything and everything via online shopping. from a needle to a house.

apart from the gift for my dad's birthday. i also got some stuff for me. a lil i needed and mostly what caught my fancy (being the magpie that i am ).

as you may have guessed , the chromozome black 3/4ths are for daddy dearest. he loves the fit and the material(pure cotton ) . i can see him buying more of these in all possible shades.

they are excellent quality for the price.

the lipliners were what i actually needed. i ran out of both red and nude lip liners and since, i need my lipstick to last an entire day and cant be bothered to do touchups frequently;  lipliners save the day for me .

as for the green eyeliner , i also managed to run out of my faces long wear eye pencil in forest green . i couldn't locate it anywhere , online or in store so i decided to try a different brand. now this may astound you , but i have never used the maybelline vivid and smooth eyeliners before. YES! the makeup magpie hasn't used them . so this would be a good starting point, loving it so far . i might pick up more shades in the future. 

and as for the streetwear color rich lipstick. this was a true case of see it , like it , buy it. no thought spared. a nice bright pink for the daytime.

• awesome packaging and shipping- i have to mention this. on a previous order , i had ordered a borosil glass square bowl for baking. it was wrapped within an inch of its life in bubble wrap. and landed into my greedy hands safely and without a scratch. shipping is fast and free above 5oo inr. also its safe as you get tracking information and the courier service generally is on time and calls before the delivery. you also get regular updates on you cellphone if you opt for sms tracking.
• excellent customer service- not only is it prompt, they are very courteous and polite. whatever may be your problem, they will try their level best to solve it for you for instance, some parts of my order were going top be shipped much later . but i needed them before my father's birthday. i requested them regarding the same and VIOLA! my order arrived not only before time but also much before the date that iu wanted it . its always a pleasure to talk to their customer service people. i know by the time i keep my call , i am going to have a smile on my face. 
• availability of several payment options like C.O.D or via credit or debit cards , net banking etc
• easy site interface - it is easy to navigate , browse and add items to your cart. the quick view thing is a boon when in a hurry.

cons:~

just one con , they have stopped delivering to my pincode and several others as well. i have to give my friends address and request her to pick it up for me . too much hassle .

and now the best part ,  GOSF.

if you do not know GOSF, then you must be living under a rock. ( sorry i have no idea what male dolls are called ) long time no see. how are all of you ? how is the so called Indian winters and really real world winters treating you?
i was m.i.a for a long time due to my exams and then i had to be emergency hospitalized for a week due to a condition for a week . ladies suffering from PCOS i share your pain.
so now that i am back on my feet , sitting on my own bum typing this long pending review for you  guys . hands in the air .YAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!.
just a prologue to all those new ones joining us and a reminder for all those who have loyally hung around( thank you and hugs ) - I AM NOT A PINK PERSON . I AM NOT A LIPGLOSS  PERSON.
SO this review is for a lipstick that's pink and glossy .

expiry:- no idea what-so-ever. i just chuck my lipsticks whenever they start smelling awful.

Expert Tip

In case any of you darlings don't know what a pink tourmaline is or what it looks like. here is a pic for you.

Packaging:-

standard maybelline colorsensational packaging with a twist. the twist being the shiny , hologram like effect on the pink plastic top. its fun to look at and i like such things. if not doing anything else, i am often caught staring oddly at the packaging of this lipstick.the tube inside is metal and has a nice hefty, expensive feel to it.luckily the lipstick swivels down completely and doesn't get caught along the way in the cap. plus points for that. i know how many lipsticks i have ruined in a hurry just because they didn't close well.

the name and other information is written on the bottom of the tube in big , bold letters. you sure wont need glasses to read it out.the tube is pretty pink as well . easy to identify this one from the sea of lippies . no shame in that . i admit it . i am a lipstick hoor. 

the ultimate detail is maybelline new york etched on the the metal tube. one sad part s being metallic , it holds fingerprints bad. need to wipe it down after every use.

The Shade:-

it is a very pretty blue based almost fuchsia pink . what makes it different from other pinks in the market is the shimmer in it. i will lay it down straight. this is a frost finish lipstick. if you do not like frost , this one is not for you . it is cool toned no denying that. it definitely has a white base and may have to tendency to pull off chalky on very warm skin tones.. to know what a white base is , click here.

Now what distinguishes it from other frosty pink lip products mentioned in the dupes list below , is definitely the shimmer . it isn't just silvery white shimmer. but a mix of pink and red shimmer as well. the variations in the shimmer are easily visible if you rub it off. the subtle pinky red shimmer gives it a bit depth rather than making it seem like a party pink.the best part is the shimmer doesn't migrate . i have lipsticks and glosses whose shimmer has ended down my decolletage area by the end of the day. it stays put and doesn't feel gritty as it wears on. being frosty however it settles into fine lines. so exfoliate properly before applying.

the shimmer also creates a beautiful play on colours. in different lightings the shade appears different. in natural light is more pink toned whereas in artificial yellow lighting its more of a red.  also due to the frost shiny finish , it makes the lips appear more fuller and poutier. now who doesn't want that?

The Wear:-

as is true with whole of the color sensational range, it is immensely creamy and smooth. 1 swipe delivers almost opaque colour with ease. the wear time is decent around 4-5hrs with eating and drinking. it lingers as a stain upto the 8 hr mark after which it looks plain grubby. being a bright shade the shimmer isn't the only thing left behind , some colour persists too.it is adequately moisturizing. i don't not need to wear a lip balm underneath nor do i need to rush to apply it after taking the lipstick off.

but what it majorly needs s a lipliner underneath . being a bright colour and given as creamy as it is, it has tendency to feather outside the lipline, bleed and smoosh off completely due to transfer.

yes it transfers like crazy on any and everything your lips touch.

my choice of lip liner is from the range itself-maybelline new york color sensational lip liner in STELLAR PINK. 

tip of the day:- to add to your regular matte red lipstick . apply the rad lipstick to the outer corners of your lips leaving the center bare. place a frosty pink shade in the center for a unique duo toned ombre lip effect!

The Dupe list:-

 

while testing  out dupes i was scanning majorly for blue based frosty pinks. and a truth of my life dawned on me . actually two truths. i own very less lipsticks and more so very less lipsticks. so much so that i had to snag one from my mum's vanity :(

onto the dupes:-

1. maybelline colorsensational jewels- pink tourmaline
2. maybelline color sensational lip liner -stellar pink.
3. avon simply pretty lipstick- amethyst ( a very old tube . belongs to the mum. from the original simply pretty lineup)
4. nyx round lipstick- georgia
5. nyx megashine lipgloss- french kiss
6. gala of london ultra cream lipstick- 24 pink partner

from the images you can see that stellar pink is the perfect match in natural lighting but appears to lean a bit mauve-y in artificial lighting. amethyst is just purple and cannot be compared. i thought it could be dupe looking at the tube. sad. georgia is much lighter , frostier and more pink based. french kiss and pink partner may not look like dupes at all . but they are the perfect dupe in shade when layered. though the effect is much more glossier pink partner layered on top on french kiss matches the tone , frostiness  but doesn't have the same depth due to difference in shimmer.

Final Word:-

DO I LIKE IT:-  yes i do . but not my kinda shade that i will wear often or in the day time. 

WILL I REPURCHASE IT:- nope. maybe rubylicious  or refined wine. i have not much love for either frost finish or frosty pinks except when they are eyeshadows.

WILL I RECOMMEND IT:- yes to all those pink lovers out there . and those who are looking for a bright out there party , night time pink.

goodies from europe!

a friend of mine was in Europe recently and offered to buy some goodies for . since the friend is a non makeup junkie it would have been stupid to send a list and then get the wrong products and get disappointed :( . so i said grab whatever catches your eye and you think i will like ! i must say i am impressed with the collection put up except may be the nail thingies ( coz i m a klutz .... cant even paint my nails straight ). most of this stuff is by h and m and Yves Rocher!

so lets get on with it

1. h & m french manicure kit

what do you give to a nail biting , nail art messing noob ? a french manicure kit, hoping that the noobiness and nail biting would stop. jokes apart , this is the first time ever i have owned a french manicure kit. this is also the first time i have ever owned a proper base coat and top coat . guess there is a first time for everything , huh ? may be it will help me mend my ways , hehehehe :D

 2. Yves Rocher vernis brilliance nail lacquer

the lilac one is R201 and the maroon is R101

the lilac is a perfect pastel for my fingers and lilac happens to be my favourite colour to wear on nails too . its got some blue iridescence . so pretty ! the maroon is a very deep murky red almost bordering on brown .this is such a staple pedicure shade. such dark , vampy colours make my feet look fair and sexy .... tehheeehee

3.yves rocher couleurs nature lip pencil 

the shades are 02 mauve and 07 bois de rose ! aha the french , they name stuff so sweet. only if it was pronounceable too ! a basic mauve and nude lip liner . you cant have too many of them . always needed , must haves !

4. h & m eyeshadow brush and smokey eye brush 

the eyeshadow brush is a basic brush for packing on eyeshadow . it so dense and soft that it can be used for blending too . 

the smokey eye brush is kinda interesting. its dual sided . one end has an angled liner brush and the other end has a dense, small smudge or accent brush of sorts . i need to play around with these brushes more to comment on them . just one thing, they are addictively soft!

5. h & m makeup sponge 

i don't know what thought process provoked this purchase ? but i m thankful as always . i can tell one thing for now is that they are far more superior quality than the Indian ones i have used in the past.

6. h & m shimmer lip balm

its a transclusent lip balm with lots of silver shimmer in it . its not gritty though . since it washes me out , i m planning to use it more as a cheek and brow bone highlighter!

and finally my favorite thing in the haul 

7. h & m eyeshadow palette 32 shades 

i love this . i have palettes with shimmery shades in them . this is my first palette with matte shades . and the best part the colour range is so varied . between this palette and my meylon palette and my kiss beauty shimmery palette i am a happy camper XD!
