see what i got in the mail - urban touch haul!

hello beauties,

something made my weekend ! i know the title is such a dead give away. this black box can make any gal happy.

 so i recently got my semester results and since i had scored good ( obviously better than my or my parent's expectations ) my mother decided to give me a small "baksheesh" . i was flying in the sky since it was sans any conditions which indicated i could shop to my hearts content . a big hurray to moms ! 

given my schedule , i couldn't go out of my hometown to shop. i live in a very "townsy" sort of a place. so buying my beloved makeup here is a big no no. i headed to one of my favourite online shopping sites "URBAN TOUCH" .

i have shopped from there before and always have had fantastic service.

a few glitches here and there easily smoothed over by excellent, responsible and prompt customer service.

i agree its expensive and the offers or discounts are less compared to other sites but the black box packaging is versatile and tempting!

SO LETS SEE WHAT I GOT:-

(from left to right)

• basicare powder brush:- i actually needed a blush brush . but being the butterfingered me i chose the powder brush instead . i realised this when the invoice mail came. thought it was too late and what the heck, this brush is perfect for applying blush to my chubby cheeks ! 
• faces long wear pencil in forest green:- getting seriously addicted to these  Faces pencils. after navy i decided to try a different shade . after seeing a few reviews online , i set my sights on this. this is a perfect shade for pop of colour for college.
• nyx mega shine lipgloss in french kiss:-  me, a lipstick gal, was brought down to her knees by the power of the fabled NYX megashine lip glosses. its perfect as centre-of-the-lip colour to bring some dimension to the lips and as the name says " mega shiny".
• nyx powder bronzer in days of maui:- with my ulta bronzer broken, i was in search of a new budget bronzer. this is the only product i haven't tested yet , so will get back to you soon about it :)
• lakme perfect radiance intense whitening night cream- this has replaced my hg l'oreal pearl perfect. lovvvvveeeee it ! it is a miracle in a jar. if you want to know more do let me know in he comments below. 
• loreal superliner 24H gel eyeliner in black:- it has received the highest rating as the best drugstore eyeliner on various blogs. its a perfect addition to my a.m college makeup routine.

dark cave wonders - emerald and bronze e.o.t.d

hola mi chikitas,

back with a bang with a broken left hand. got my hand crushed in the collapsible gate of my lift.

a bad situation if you ask me . and i really will make it up for it.

so if you have seen the pics below you may notice that the eyes look different than they do here.

so they are my darling sweet sis's. she is a trained bharat natyam dancer and often does shows and the lot. so who's the makeup artist  "ME".

the pictures look wonky and with pathetic lighting because my dorkus refused to stay still and kept complaining that the flash was blinding her. also due to hurry some of the steps in between are missing. taking pics in a poorly lit green room is so pathetic. i do not intend the below post to be an instructional e.o.t.d but more of as an idea post.

she was wearing a beautiful black outfit with a green pallu and bronzy accents to it . so i decided to make it as the main colours . somehow the whole theme reminded me of an underground cave with jewels in it.

since my sis was going to be on stage for a long time . the makeup needed to stay put. i applied some concealer and set it with loose powder.

next i used l'oreal infallible eyeshadow in endless chocolat to intensify the colours as well as add to the longevity

i patted on a medium brown from midnight lustre trio by avon featured here all over the lid to help in blending the eyeshadows i added next.

i next added the black from the same palette to the outer v and blended what was left on the brush along the crease to give the eyes some definition.

AND this where the steps go missing . i added a dark green from my faces palette all over the lid . then i chose a lighter green and placed in the inner 1/3 rd of the eye . i took avon glimmerstick precision powder eyeshadow in dune and placed it smack in the inner corner . 

i lined the upper lashline with avon glimmersticks eyeliner in bronze glow and the lower lashline with lotus hypnotica kajal.

i curled her lashes next and applied tons of faces lengthening mascara..

AND THAT'S IT ! WE ARE DONE!

for the face i used faces rose gold blush and the lips were nude with colorbar velvet matte bare topped with a clear gloss.

l'oreal infallible eyeshadow- endless chocolat

peeps kindly stand up and bow down to greatest eyeshadow formula ever ( according to poor old cheap me )-

L'OREAL INFALLIBLE EYESHADOW - endless chocolat (yes that's the way its spelled on my container).

i m cheap . ya that's what i m . spending close to 500 inr on a single eyeshadow that's just not me .

but i did it . as the infallible range launched internationally , i have been lemming it since then.

and finally , India gets to see these beauties in their full glory.

birthdays are meant for splurging and with abandon, i splurged!

l'oreal is a brand that has not disappointed me to this date .and this eyeshadow just raises expectations !

price- 450 INR ie 9 USD

net.wt- 3.5 g i.e 0.12oz

so it comes to 128 inr per gram

much more value for money considering several higher end brands just act unfair in India and hike their rates like hell ( m.a.c , clinique i m looking at you )

that's close to 2 yrs of shelf life. enough for me to finish the product considerably.

so lets take a look at the product itself 

WHAT L'OREAL CLAIMS :-

 THE PACKAGING:-

 its a standard loose pigment packaging . a jar filled to the brim with the pigment and has a conserver ( ya that black cap like thingie) to keep the eyeshadow from moving around in the jar and creating a general mess.the silver cap is shiny and is brown to make colour location easier. it has a  bit sparkle in it as you can see giving an idea of the finish of the eyeshadow.

its sturdy enough to be thrown in the bag and travelled with but not thrown off a height. the mess will be unbearable and uncleanable . trust me on that one. please don't touch surfaces or put the eyshadow on surfaces as it is very difficult to remove ( my walls and makeup table are witness to that .. good ole klutzy me to be blamed). i did get yelled for it later . did you see something ...? that's me going off track and blabbering in general . so coming to the review .......

TEXTURE:-

well , the texture is smooth almost buttery and so very dense and packed . no grittiness to it at all . if a loose pigment married a cream eyeshadow and they had a kid . u get me don't you ? i know its hard to explain its something whose glory has to be experienced in reality. they describe it as a hybrid ,well it is a hybrid .it does not stir up a mountain of dust though on using  and opening like some powder eyeshadows do . that's a good part about it .

THE SHADE:-

its a beautiful deep brown with soft shimmery almost satiny finish to it. it has an intense complexity, it reflects off different colours in different lights. in order to do justice to the shade i took as many ( decent ) pics as possible , partly the reason why this post is pic heavy . the other part of the reason is that i am absolutely in love with this shadow. i chose a normal mundane neutral brown instead of a popping , bright colour because for the cost i wanted to justify my purchase by using it regularly rather than using it just once and it sitting rest of the time in some far corner of my closet .

STAYING POWER :-

it stayed on my hand when i put it for swatching at 10 a.m till almost i took shower the next day . i still could see some signs of it even after that . i haven't worn it on my eyes for full 24 hrs coz i don't sleep with my makeup on ever . on my super oily multiple hooded lids it stays on for about 10 hrs which is more than enough to make me die and go to heaven .

APPLICATION:-
the s.a told me to apply it with finger for best results . its good for a sheer wash but not for building up as it causes fall out. a flat basic , dense eyeshadow brush is the best for padding the color on the lid for desired intensity . it doesn't need to be set with a powder eyeshadow as it doesn't crease . but acts as a primer for other colours keeping oil and creasing at bay for hours together , even on a hot humid day . its is waterproof and water resistant . it will stay put until you decide to take it off with a good bi phase makeup remover .( i use lakme 9 to 5 makeup remover for this ) . application and blending is a dream . however you need to be quick as it sets within 30 sec or so .

that's it folks .i will recommend it to anyone and everyone. an excellent bang for your buck product ever . i m surely going to buy more shades as soon as i save up and my purge ends.

my teeny tiny birthday haul!!!!!!!!

so today was my birthday and with my darling friend and fellow bb gal bhumika sajnani , i went shoppingggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we went to Crawford market at c.s.t , Mumbai to two very special places called beauty centre and beauty palace.

divo paddle bush

i needed a new hair brush badly and a paddle brush was my choice . i bought the one from divo as i had heard good things about it . plus the s.a praised it.

aroma magic glow face pack and skin toner

running out of toner is a bad thing for oily skinned girls especially in the summers. so i got this one as an impulse buy. the glow face pack is supposed to have lifting and anti blemish properties so its for both, mum and me.

kryolan blush in shade t1

guess what i found? i found KRYOLAN at beauty palace .this is a fantastic peachy coral blush suitable for a myriad tones from the brand that makes inexpensive , excellent quality makeup better than several high end brands

richfeel under gel

this one's for mom. she has been using it for years and loves it . i find it comparable to aroma magic under eye gel

maybelline color bloom lipbalm in peach bloom and clearglow all in one compact

i love the colorbloom lipbalms by maybelline. they are fun and give a cute tint . i had the pink bloom so decided to try this one. 

maybelline whitestay uv compact is a cult favorite . i love it too. clearglow has been making waves and the s.a told me that this can be used both wet and dry. plus the price too wasn't a bummer.

Aroma Shop pure tea tree oil

i recently read about the benefits of tea tree oil and as i was passing through the aisles this cute apothecary style display of essential oils caught my eye . i couldn't resist and bought this.

l'oreal hydrafresh anti shine icy gel + gel foam

after checking out icy gel in a favorites video by bubzbeauty , i was intrigued. when this released in india , i was ecstatic. plus adding to my happiness , i got the gel foam cleanser freeeee! don't we all love free stuff !
